Deepak Minhas is the writer of two books, No Straight Lines (prose and poems) and One Day at a Time (poems, prose and short stories). The short stories are vignettes of South Asian characters experiencing mental health issues such as homophobia, gender preference, and postpartum depression, in Canada and in India. Through the process of character development, Deepak developed a keen interest in the stories of people which opened the door to her pursuit of a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree.
Deepak’s therapeutic focus lies in holding space for her clients to process their lived experiences one moment at a time. She is empathetic, compassionate, and motivated to support her clients move forward in their life. Deepak’s areas of work include, but are not limited to, dual-identity conflict, grief and loss, and domestic and dating violence.
Your counselling experience with Deepak will fill you with hope, feeling in charge of your life, supported, accepted, and heard. Deepak’s practice is evidence-based and culturally informed.

Samuel Reichel is a counselling intern currently completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Samuel has a strong background in mental health, trauma-informed care, and culturally-informed practice. Samuel has a vested interest in helping others that is reflected in his work and personal experiences.
Samuel has worked for many years in the non-profit mental health sector in a variety of roles, first starting as a volunteer for the Distress Centre Calgary and then as a peer mentor at his local university. Samuel gained several years of experience working with vulnerable populations at the Calgary Alpha House Society, where he worked closely with individuals in their detox, shelter, and outreach programs. Samuel continues his work in non-profit mental health as a support for individuals as they transition out of psychiatric care and into independent living. These experiences have shaped Samuel to place the utmost importance on building understanding, safe, and trusting relationships to pave the way for positive growth and change.
Samuel works from a person-centered lens and utilizes tailored treatment techniques that are unique to each individual. Samuel’s experiences have allowed him to work confidently with a variety of concerns including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, work-related issues such as burnout or compassion fatigue, and couples or family issues.

My professional background includes a diploma in Speech-Language Pathology Assisting and a degree in Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies. I have a multifaceted understanding of individual needs across various age groups, abilities and settings, such as working with individuals with autism. My extensive experience spans work in educational institutions, homes, workplaces, and community settings, facilitating both group and individual therapy sessions targeting a wide range of speech-language, occupational, physical, recreational, and behavioural challenges.
Continuing my academic pursuits, I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, further enriching my knowledge and expertise in supporting individuals through their therapeutic journeys.
